Barbara S. Cohen, Of Counsel to Winograd, Shine & Zacks, P.C., has practiced law since 1982, primarily in the area of business litigation. Ms. Cohen has handled all types of commercial cases, including federal, state and multidistrict litigation respecting equipment sales, insurance coverage and products liability claims. In addition, she represents financial institutions in all aspects of retail banking, including check fraud, electronic transactions, and wire transfers, as well as in litigation respecting trusts and investment transactions.

Ms. Cohen also represents employers and employees in disputes involving discrimination claims and confidentiality and non-competition agreements. She advises clients on the broad range of federal and state laws that govern the workplace and provides counseling and drafting services regarding employment agreements, employee handbooks and personnel policies.

Ms. Cohen's clients include individuals, local and out-of-state companies, banks and multinational corporations. Her reported cases include:

Ms. Cohen is a graduate, summa cum laude, of the University of Pennsylvania, where she is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She received her law degree from New York University.

Ms. Cohen is admitted to the bars of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Districts of Rhode Island, Massachusetts and the Western District of Michigan. She is a member of the American (Sections of Litigation and Labor and Employment Law), Rhode Island and Massachusetts Bar Associations.

Ms. Cohen previously was a founding partner of the law firm of Goldenberg & Muri LLP and was an associate with the law firm of Licht & Semonoff.
